Job Description:

The Advanced Quality Engineer supports product launch activities working closely with Product Development, Program Management and the supporting manufacturing plants Quality and Engineering teams. This role also recommends improvements for all aspects of the APQP process globally with emphasis on product and process performance to meet Customer and regulatory requirements.



  • Lead the Advanced Quality Planning activities for assigned programs.
  • Ensure that customer requirements are incorporated into the APQP & PPAP process.
  • Attends gate reviews, design reviews, program reviews, customer meetings, and relevant team meetings (e.g. gage and tooling reviews), representing Quality on new programs.
  • Participate in Design Verification and Validation (V&V), reviewing and approving testing protocols and reports to verify design requirements are met and challenge the design.
  • Works with other functions to ensure FMEAs are completed on-time and in compliance with customer and legal requirements, considering lessons learned.
  • Assist with actions and recommendations in the development of dimensional control strategies with plants, suppliers and Customers.
  • Interact with Customer Quality, Engineering and SQE representatives during launch activities and run at rate
  • Provide support for all manufacturing sites and Global support teams (Engineering, SDE, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality) with regards to the APQP process.
  • Communicate and ensure read across lessons learned opportunities are an input into the APQP and FMEA process.
  • Internally escalate Advanced Quality issues and develop a plan with all stakeholders to resolve.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.







Preferred Skills:

  • Driveline, Powertrain or Driveline component and systems knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem skills. Preferably Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
  • Experience working in an ISO/TS or IATF16949:2016 environment. (Preferably formally trained and/or Internal Auditor qualified)
  • APQP and other Core Tools knowledge and experience.
  • Analytical and statistical software proficient.
  • Ability to navigate Customer portals.
  • Ability to lead and work with and within Multi-National Teams.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with Customers, Suppliers, Senior Management, Plants and work groups especially Product Engineering Teams.
  • Able to travel Internationally.



  • Degree in Engineering or Business considered.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • 5 years in Tier 1 as a Quality Engineer.
